2-1 Mouthwash & Cleaner?!

What are your staple bathroom products? Is it your facial cleanser? Your razor? Your body scrub?

Mine is the ubiquitous, disinfectant: hydrogen peroxide. Cleveland Clinic wrote an article in 2021 proposing a variety of uses for the solution. The article begins by explaining when NOT to use the product. However, the article provides multiple applications for the product.

  1. Wash your fruit, not your wounds. The molecule (H2O2) has strong disinfecting properties by oxidizing pathogens. These properties are harmful to the skin but the substance can be used to clean glass, hard surfaces, etc. Furthermore, the liquid is viricidal, bactericidal, and fungicidal which is perfect for the healthcare industry.

  2. No Stain, No pain. Hydrogen Peroxide has stain remover qualities which is good for clothing, carpets, and other hard-to-clean surfaces.

  3. Listerine or Hydrogen peroxide? Although the liquid is harmful to the skin, it has applications for dental health to be used as mouthwash. Additionally, H2O2 can be used to clean makeup tools and beauty tools.

Articles like the Cleveland Clinic have prompted the creation of hydrogen peroxide products. For instance, the Clorox brand expanded its product line from bleach to hydrogen peroxide-based cleansers. Those branded disinfectants are now used in hospitals, schools, animal veterinary clinics, etc.

So, what uses can you find for hydrogen peroxide today?
